Welcome to IHRFG’s Directory of Human Rights Funders! This tool is designed to enable both grantmakers and grantseekers to search for human rights funders by several key criteria: areas of rights funding, activities supported and geographic focus.

To search, select your preferred search criteria (you can choose more than one option within a category by holding the ‘Ctrl’ button) and click ‘Apply.’ To view a full list of grantmaking institutions included in the directory, keep the search fields empty and click ‘Apply.’

Tips for Grantmakers
This directory is designed to help funders learn more about the work of their peers. We hope that it is useful in finding colleagues who share your programmatic and/or geographic interests, locating funders who have expertise in a particular area of human rights and facilitating collaboration. We encourage you to utilize our message board in our Member Area to initiate discussions and make connections with other funders listed in this directory.

To modify an existing profile, sign in to your member account and select ‘edit your funder entry’.  You will be taken to the edit tab where you can update your profile. Please type directly into the form or copy and paste text into NOTEPAD (PC) or Text Edit (Mac), then copy and paste again into the online profile. Please DO NOT PASTE from a Word Processor, Internet Browser or Email Program that includes formatted text, as it will lead to formatting difficulties. Once you select ‘Save’, your changes will be reflected within the public directory.

Tips for Grantseekers
We hope that this directory can be helpful to human rights organizations in identifying potential sources of funding support. When considering approaching a grantmaking institution for funding, please pay particular attention to the ‘how to apply’ section of the profile. Some IHRFG members do not accept unsolicited applications. If this is the case, please do not send a request for funding. For IHRFG members that do accept proposals, please visit the institution’s website to ensure that you meet the application requirements. Please visit the ‘Resources for Grantseekers’ section of our website for additional tools and information you may find helpful.
