Organizational Mission:

Inspired by Jewish values of tzedakah (the obligation to give to the community), social justice and human rights, the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation makes grants that strengthen Jewish life, Israeli democracy, educational opportunity, health and mental health, and human rights.
 
The Foundation supports organizations that promote systemic change; involve constituents in planning and decision-making; encourage volunteer and professional development; and engage in ongoing program evaluation.

Human Rights Program Mission

The goal of this program is to advance fundamental human rights.

The Foundation seeks to:

• advance women's rights

• promote the right to education, particularly for adolescents and adults

• support leadership development, capacity-building and training across a range of issue areas

The Foundation's human rights work is primarily international, with a special interest in efforts that link domestic and international issues.

How to apply:

The initial application may be a proposal that a grantseeker has already prepared or a two or three page letter of intent.
 
Letters of intent and proposals are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications will be acknowledged by postcard within two weeks.
 
Because of the large volume of requests for support, only a small number of organizations will be invited to submit additional materials for consideration. If contacted by a staff member with a request for further information, please use the full proposal guidelines, or the Common Grant Application.

Restrictions
Regretfully, we do not provide support for:
• Grants or scholarships to individuals.
• Unsolicited proposals for academic, scientific, or medical research.
• Direct mail, annual giving, membership campaigns, fundraising and commemorative events.

The foundations rarely make capital grants unless there is a prior relationship with the applicant organization.
